Resolved-Nothing more

Or less than our gratitude

For true stories shared

SurpriseI It’s Haiku time here at the home office of Storied Stuff.  The temptation to write reflections, projections, celebrations and lamentations be damned!  We are starting off 2026 with a “less is more” approach.

Some background. At one of our book launch events for Volumes 1 and 2 of Storied Stuff—proud milestones of 2025—an audience

member asked about the 250-500 word count for SS pieces.  “Isn’t it hard to write such short pieces?”

We—and other contributors who had earlier shared their pieces with the audience-- discussed the brevity that made the experience of writing about a cherished object concise, elegant, and essential.  One contributor in attendance, Keith Kretchmer, suggested we could, perhaps, accept submissions in Haiku form.

We laughed, assuming he was joking, but no, he was serious.  And surveying the room, we saw that the idea of a seventeen-syllable challenge intrigued both writers and readers.

Who are we to say

How many words it will take

To reveal your heart

So enjoy Haiku Winter here at Storied Stuff.  And if you’d like to curl up with a book rather than a screen, we suggest Storied Stuff Volumes 1 and 2 to keep winter doldrums at bay.  All profits go to not for profits—all reading satisfaction goes to you.
